Daniel Kofman is currently the Director of the LINCS, a joint research center he co-founded in 2011, focused on Future Communication Networks, Systems and Services. The LINCS is co-financed by Institut Mines-Telecom, INRIA, Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Alcatel-Lucent and SystemX (cluster that includes Orange), and is sponsored by several other international companies (75 researchers and experts from industry and academia, collocated in the same premises). The LINCS was inaugurated by French Minister of Research and Innovation.
Daniel is also Fellow-Strategic Advisor at RAD Data Communications, Advisor for several companies (Telecom operators, Manufacturers, Capital ventures) including key market players and contributes as an expert for several public organizations including the French Parliament.
In 2006 Daniel was appointed corporate CTO of RAD Data Communications and member of the Corporate Strategy Committee. In 2011 he became RAD Fellow, focusing on his contributions as strategic advisor.
In 2004 Daniel was appointed Full Professor at Telecom ParisTech where he created and lead several strategic activities and contributes to the international positioning.
Since 2003 he is member of Scientific Committee of the French Parliament. He was invited to this committee following a report he authored for the Sénat on strategies related with Future Communication Systems.
In 2003 he co-founded the first European Network of Excellence on « Future Internet and Communication Networks » (Euro-NGI followed by Euro-NF), financed by the European Commission, grouping more than 30 R&D labs over 18 countries. Daniel has been Chairman of the board for the first 7 years and Scientific Coordinator for the fist 4 years.
In 1999 he co-founded a start-up that completed a whole life cycle and was sold in 2007. He contributed with 2 other start-ups.
Since 1995 Daniel has contributed as Expert for various national and international institutions (European Commission, CAS Center of Strategic Analysis-French Government, etc.). He recently co-authored a report for the CGST (Commissariat Général à la Stratégie et la Prospective) on Internet horizon 2030, he contributed in initiatives and experts committees at the European Commission, he has been the President of the Experts Committee of the ANR (French National Research Agency) division in charge of Future Networks and Services and is today member of the Steering Board. He has been the President of the Committee in charge of promoting France Telecom R&D researchers. Daniel authored several vision and positioning documents for industry and public organizations as well as more than 50 scientific papers in international journals and conferences, he has been invited as speaker to more than 30 events worldwide.
