Manfredo ATZORI registered to attend the ICT 2013 Event
I am postdoc at the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland HES-SO Valais (Sierre, Switzerland). I am having an important role in the Ninapro (Non-Invasive Adaptive Prosthetics) research project, that consists in the creation and the analysis of a database of surface electromyography signals for hand prosthetics. The goal of the project is to realize a database accepted by the international scientific community, and to develop machine learning algorithms to perform natural control of hand prostheses for up to 50 different movements. The project is founded by the Swiss National Science Foundation.
Before I was scientific researcher at the Institute of Research (IRCCS) E. Medea and at the section of Psychiatry of the Department of Medicine at the University of Verona (Verona, Italy), where I worked on Magnetic Resonance Imaging and I realized algorithms to perform quantitative analysis of Structural Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Blood Oxygenation Level Dependent Functional MRI (BOLD fMRI), Dynamic Susceptibility Contrast (DSC) MRI, Computed Tomography (CT) and Computed Tomography Angiography (CTa), Diffusion MRI and Spectroscopy MRI (MRS).
I have strong experience in using MATLAB as well as several software and packages for medical imaging, as SPM5, SPM8, FSL.
I have also experience in creating and managing databases with thousands of medical images and datasets.
In the last 6 years I continuously collaborated with medical doctors, psychologists, engineers and physicists and I published about 15 publications in peer reviewed international scientific journals and conferences in the field of bioengineering, medical imaging, signal processing and machine learning.
Finally, I have experience in innovative entrepreneurship, and I won several innovation and business plans competitions (~90 k€).
