Dr. Ing. Lule Ahmedi, is Associate Professor at University of Prishtina, Kosova, where she joint the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2005. She received her PhD in computer science at University of Freiburg, Germany, where she also did teaching and research for more than five years as a member of the Databases and Information Systems Department. In the period 2005-2010, Dr. Ahmedi was also a Visiting Lecturer at South East European University, Macedonia. She held several invited lectures in the field at universities in Europe.

She is author of several referred papers in renowned international conferences, and currently focusing her research in the areas of Semantic Web, Linked Data, Social Web, Intelligent Information Retrieval, and Mining of Massive Datasets. Dr. Ahmedi successfully completed a research project funded by DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft). Currently, Dr. Ahmedi is leading a number of international projects in ICT of different funding sources, i.e., EU’s FP7 Programme, EU’s IPA Funding Scheme, Norwegian HERD Programme, Swedish Linneaus-Palme Programme, and a national research grant.

Dr. Ahmedi was local coordinator for Master Study Program in Computer Science at University of Prishtina, a Joint EU Tempus project. She is author of the National Background Report on ICT research for Kosovo for the period 2009-2013 funded by the FP7 Programme, and has also contributed to the National Research Programme of the Republic of Kosova.

Her talk on ICTs in Kosovo at the conference organized by TWAS and IAP, the global network of science academies, in promoting regional cooperation in science, technology and innovation was selected to be compiled into an article at the TWAS Newsletter.
