Nicola CIULLI registered to attend the ICT 2010 Event
Nicola Ciulli is director of R&D activities at Nextworks, a spin-off company of Consorzio Pisa Ricerche (CPR), located in Pisa, Italy. He received the Laurea degree “cum laude” in Telecommunication Engineering in 1997 at the University of Pisa, and the Degree Diploma at SSSUP S. Anna.
He has currently 13 years of experience in various tlc fields; in his early days he worked as a researcher at the Dept. of Information Engineering of University of Pisa, then as project manager and responsible of tlc-related activities at CPR.
His main research and consulting activities concern the architectural aspects of Control and Management Planes and of Traffic Control in next generation packet networks: QoS provision over packet networks, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), Differentiated Services (DiffServ), MPLS and their integration.
A special focus of his research and industrial activity is GMPLS control and management planes architectures for SDH and WDM networks, and Ethernet switching services (P/Q-bridge, PBB, PBB-TE, T-MPLS).
He has participated in several industrial projects (e.g. Marconi ASTN/GMPLS project, Alcatel projects on 4G mixed packet/TDM switches and T-MPLS), and in ACTS and FP5/FP6/FP7 projects (recent and current ones include PHOSPHORUS, GEYSERS, ETICS and MAINS), in research activities funded by the Italian Ministry for Research and Education (MIUR).
