IRISNET2: A sustainable broadband network for Brussels

This is a stand in the Belgian National Pavilion, located in Zone B: Belgium National Pavillion. Stand number: B27 - 3 days

A future-proof sustainable green broadband network for the Brussels-Capital Region fostering innovation in the public service

Since 2000, the Brussels Region has been rolling out IRISnet, a Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) that provides public bodies with broadband telecom. The Brussels MAN integrates VoIP, Internet, e-mails, data exchange, client-server applications and e-Government applications. For its new support contract, the Brussels-Capital Region wants its MAN to integrate future-proof technologies that will tackle key challenges such as traffic congestion, population growth and ageing, digital divide, unemployment, delinquency, ecological footprint, sustainable growth and health care cost explosion. The stand will invite visitors to exchange ideas about the MAN of the future. A video presentation showing current and future MAN-based cases will serve as inspiration.
