eGen – women on board in ICT, technology and innovation

1101, 28/09/2010 (16:00-17:30)

The European centre for women and technology is focusing on interdisciplinary experiences in order to get more girls and women involved in ICT, technology and innovation.

There is growing evidence to support the view that getting women involved in ICT adds value throughout the entire innovation chain. The European Centre for Women and Technology (ECWT) is holding a networking session to focus on interdisciplinary experiences in order to attract more girls and women to the sector. Good examples of running Framework Projects and other initiatives will be highlighted during the session, and trans-Atlantic experiences will be shared. An EU action plan moving from raising awareness to integrating the gender dimension in ICT, technology and innovation in all policy-making will also be discussed. The aim of this action plan is to mainstream the needs of female ICT users and accelerate ICT take-up among women.

I will attend as a representative of the Liaison Office Argentina – European Union (ABEST II) from the Ministry of Science, technology and Productive Innovation (MINCYT). Hope this meeting can be an opportunity to enhance effective participation of Latin American women in FP7 projects. Our main goal is to promote the Argentinean well-known capacities in technology R&D.
