CS: Complex systems
This is a stand in the Belgian National Pavilion, located in Zone B: Belgium National Pavillion. Stand number: B05 - days 1 and 3
IRIDIA is the ULB’s (Université Libre de Bruxelles) artificial intelligence research laboratory working on computational intelligence.
One of IRIDIA’s main research programmes concerns swarm intelligence. The work focuses on the design of algorithms or problem-solving mechanisms inspired by the collective behaviour of social insect colonies, such as ants. In particular, IRIDIA has proposed new algorithms to solve optimisation problems and to control robot swarms. This exhibit will demonstrate the software developed for simulating and regulating complex systems, such as complex networks, immune systems and neural networks. It will also show films on ‘swarm robotics’, where small robots come together to collectively achieve a task that none of them could do alone. Finally, software will be demonstrated that stores and analyses microarray data for future genomic personalised medicine.
