OpenFlow in Europe - Linking Infrastructure and Applications

T 009, 28/09/2010 (16:00-17:30)

OpenFlow is an initiative aiming to bring new ideas and innovations into the core of data transport networks.

OpenFlow aims to lower the entrance barriers for network application developers to work on high-performance hardware and bring new ideas and innovations into the core of data transport networks. A number of research initiatives in Europe have started to adopt this idea, including OFELIA, which is a FIRE project creating a European test bed on and for OpenFlow. This session will discuss proposals and expectations concerning this test bed and will look at how OpenFlow can develop in Europe. Topics up for discussion will address what specific European fields of research already exist within the context of OpenFlow, and how Europe can strengthen its position in the mobile/wireless and optics sectors.

We now have four confirmed speakers presenting different projects and activities around OpenFlow in Europe.

There will be presentations from FP7 projects FEDERICA, CHANGE, OFELIA and SPARC, along with two regional experimentations in Italy and Spain. I really start to look forward to our discussion!
