An holistic platform design for smart buildings of the future internet, the HOBNET project is focusing on automation and energy efficiency.
The main objective of HOBNET is to facilitate and maximise the use of ‘future internet research and experimentation’ (FIRE) platforms by multidisciplinary developers of future internet applications. The project’s research is focused on automation and energy efficiency for smart/green buildings, and addresses algorithmic, networking and application development aspects of future internet systems in tiny embedded devices. Key research innovations will be experimentally validated in smart buildings. The buildings will act as a source of research challenges for smart services like energy optimisation, control access, safety, audio/video provision and automatic control.
