Connecting the worlds: Internet of Things International

T 006, 28/09/2010 (16:00-17:30)

CASAGRAS is an FP7 Coordination and Support Action for global radio-frequency identification-related activities and standardisation.

CASAGRAS concerns the emerging concept of the 'internet of things' which refers to the wireless self-configuring network between objects. By 2020, it is estimated that some 100 billion devices and sensors will be connected to the internet. The future internet will be one of people and things that can interact anywhere and at anytime. This networked interconnection will embrace new frontiers of service and enterprise. This session will introduce participants to the universe of sensors and signals that will shape our future internet world. Based on the CASAGRAS project, it will present past achievements, discuss future challenges, and stress the importance of international co-operation, which is crucial to the ‘internet of things’ as a global development.

As a networking organisation, EMF expects to meet potential project partners looking for a dissemination & exploitation partner with cross-stakeholder access, in particular to thousands of innovative SMEs throughout Europe. R&D transfer to partners capable of developing innovative products that are successful in the global markets is a core theme for EMF.

During "Panel discussion with the International Partners", the discussion is handled by non other than Dr. Ken Sakamura, the director of UNL (and the professor of the University of Tokyo).

I will attend as the audience also.

During ICT2010, UNL will hold a booth in the International Village section of the exhibition. Please drop by to see the demo of some of the technologies shown in the video during the session.)

Will attend the session, and (as in the previous session) I will provide feedback on the actual state of academic research in security of the IoT (from the results of our workshop SecIoT'10) to anyone interested.
