GN3: GÉANT Project: pan-European network and services to support global Research and Academic Communities

This is a technology or research stand, located in Zone R4 - ICT connects. Stand number: R4-10

Research network GÉANT aims to shape the internet of the future by developing network capabilities, tools and services for tomorrow’s researchers.

GÉANT supports research infrastructures and communities, together with its national research and education network (NREN) partners, and coordinates with other global networks. At this exhibit, the network will demonstrate a number of user projects: neuGRID’s work on Alzheimer’s disease research, for example, and Sim e-Child’s patient heart modelling to support paediatric cardiologists. GÉANT will also show how it is spearheading technological developments in networking by demonstrating for the first time its global bandwidth on demand (BoD) service, along with the perfSONAR network management tool. Work achieved with emerging users in environmental projects will be featured, as well as the FEDERICA e-infrastructure for future internet research.
