rasdaman: Open Geo Services: fast, flexible, and easy

This is a technology or research stand, located in Zone R3 - Green ICT. Stand number: R3-06

The raster data management in databases (Rasdaman) project is a method created for the storage, processing and display of spatial data.

Raster data is an essential part of spatial data infrastructures offering satellite imagery, elevation data, as well as atmospheric and oceanic information. For their support, the Open Geospatial Consortium (an international voluntary consensus organisation) develops and maintains the standards of the ‘web coverage service’ suite. This exhibit presents the Rasdaman standards and system. The patented technology, which is the outcome of EU projects, allows for flexible access to unlimited amounts of multidimensional raster data. Access is accomplished through the unique query language (‘structured query language (SQL) for rasters’). Highly efficient server-side optimisations ensure scalability. At the exhibit, Rasdaman will also show cases of interactive real-life use.
