STORK: Secure idenTity acrOss boRders linKed

This is a technology or research stand, located in Zone R7 - Safety and Security. Stand number: R7-07

STORK is the ‘secure identity across borders linked’ project for using a national electronic identity (eID) card throughout the EU.

This exhibit presents STORK, a project within the Competitiveness and Innovation FP, co-funded by the EU. It aims at implementing an EU-wide interoperable system for the mutual recognition of eID and related services, such as authentication. These will enable everyone to use their national eIDs in any Member State. It will also pilot transborder eGovernment identity services. From these, it will learn how to roll out such services and will experience what benefits and challenges an EU-wide system for eID recognition would bring. STORK takes into account the conditions currently existing in the EU Member States. The solution is intended to be robust, transparent, safe to use and scalable. It will also be implemented so that it is sustainable beyond the life of the pilot.
