HERMES: A multi-touch interaction prototype that supports episodic memory of older people.
This is a technology or research stand, located in Zone R5 - Digital Society. Stand number: R5-11
HERMES is the ‘cognitive care and guidance for active aging’ project for people who are experiencing mild problems with memory.
This exhibit will present the prototype demonstrator showing the results of the first 2.5 years of the HERMES project. It is a multi-touch interaction tool that supports episodic memory of older people in an effort to battle cognitive decline. Based on automatic analysis and interpretation of the experiences recorded in audio and video, storylines are generated about the events that take place. These are processed, refined and iterated to make them easily searchable and browsable through text- and video-summarisation approaches. During the demonstration, visitors are able to navigate through prerecorded real-life storylines and experience the quality of the summarisation and interaction approaches.
