MoveON: Multi-modal and multi-sensor low distraction interaction interface for two wheel vehicles ON the move
This is a technology or research stand, located in Zone R7 - Safety and Security. Stand number: R7-06
MoveON is the multi-modal and multi-sensor zero-distraction interaction interface for two-wheeled vehicles on the move project.
The MoveON project is researching innovative ways for safe motorcycle rider interaction for police motorcycle units. The police riders will be able to control existing devices, such as their terrestrial trunked radio (TETRA), by various means, such as speech, buttons, knobs and touch screens. They will also acquire new ways to send and receive information, such as vibration-based devices and LED-based heads up display, to augment their operational potential. This exhibit will display a MoveON prototype featuring a custom-made “smart” helmet, a vest enhanced with electronic devices, and a tactile input device for the handlebars. Distraction of user-system interaction is dynamically assessed while robust speech recognition is optimised with speech-enhancement algorithms.
