Appointed as Secretary General for Gender Equality in April 2013.She studied Political Science in Essex University, United Kingdom where she completed her post-graduate studies on European Policy. Her research interests include foreign affairs policy, European political integration, ecosystems, culture, communication, political theory and ideology, political analysis, policy and economy implementation and human rights. She worked as Scientific Advisor at policy think tanks in Greece and abroad, while, from 2002 to 2003, was General Director of the Centre for Policy Research and Communication. From 2003 to 2004, she worked as political analyst for a polling and communications company, while from 2007 to 2013 she worked at the private sector as managing advisor.She has been actively involved in politics from an early age. In 1992 she was elected member of the Central Committee of the youth organisation of Nea Demokratia political party (ONNED) and was re-elected in 1995. From 1994 to 1995, as member of the Executive Board of ONNED, she was the head of the European Union and Culture department. From 2001 to 2010 she was member of the Central Committee of Nea Demokratia political party (elected at the 5th, 6th and 7th party congress).During the 1996 parliamentary elections she was candidate Country Member of Greek Parliament; she was also a candidate at the 2009 election for the European Parliament. She was a long-standing member of the party’s Secretariat of Political Planning and Program and the Secretariat of European Union and International Relations. From 1999 to 2003 she served as Secretary General of the European Union of Women, a pan-European institute, established in 1953, whose members are the women’s section of the centre-right, Christian-democratic and liberal parties of Europe.From 2004 to 2007 she was Secretary General for Youth of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs. As Secretary General for Youth she represented Greece at the Youth Ministers Council of the E.U. During the same period she was a member of the National Employment Committee, of the National Education Council and of the UNESCO National Committee.In 2006 she was voted “Politician of the Year” by the Civil Society, an institution of the certified Greek NGOs. In 2007 she was named Member Emeritus of the General Assembly of the Greek Scouts, in recognition of her activities for youth and for volunteering. In 2008, the Junior Chamber International (JCI) awarded her for her actions, as a Secretary General for Youth, concerning the forwarding and support of youth entrepreneurship and also her activities and legislative support of citizenship.
