Biography: 

Stephen began his studies in, what was then, the Galway Regional Technical College where he obtained a National Certificate in Instrument Physics. From there he moved to the University of Wales in Aberystwyth where he obtained a BSc (Honours) in Planetary and Space Physics. Following this he obtained a Masters in Optoelectronics and Information Processing from Queens University in Belfast. While at Queens he carried out a research thesis at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias where he worked on numerical models of spiral galaxies.Since that time he has worked in the IT industry for some of the market leaders in both Dublin and Barcelona before taking up a position at Starlab in late 2003.At Starlab he is director of Neuroscience Research, and has extensive experience as Project and Technical Manager of both European Space Agency and EU funded projects. He is also the Applied Neuroscience product development manager and has been responsible for the successful launch of the ENOBIO wireless electrophysiology recording system, which has since been spun-off as Neuroelectrics. Stephen's research interests include Human Computer Confluence, Brain Computer Interfaces, Signal Processing of Electrophysiological Signals, Wearable Sensor Systems, Mobile Devices, Personal Health Systems and Smart Systems.
