European Health and care services are mostly in the hands of regional authorities. They are decisive for the success of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP on AHA).
During the Open Days 2012 - European Week of Regions and Cities we organised a workshop to see how they can leverage structural and regional funds to make health care

Worldwide almost 20% of the electricity is used for lighting. That corresponds approx. to the total electricity consumption of the EU. LED light sources could theoretically save up to 50% of that electricity. And even more important: lighting offers one of the easiest ways to actually realize that energy saving potential as no huge investments are needed upfront and at the same time users are able to reduce their own energy bill.

Traffic jams are one of my personal frustrations. And I’m not alone as 75% of all Europeans live in urban regions, where traffic jams have become a fact of life. European crisis or not. However, these datacentres are always on, 24/7, with standby power generators. The power consumption of these datacentres is more or less constant, whether they are working hard or idle.
In Europe, datacentre power consumption is equivalent to the entire consumption of a country the size of The Netherlands, and it has roughly doubled

The AAL programme gave me the opportunity to develop this idea by funding a project called DOMEO, whose goal is to develop a robotic platform for personalized homecare services, as well as cognitive and physical assistance.
This project initiated the development of the Kompaï
