Saskia Vlaar is Director of Research at TNO, the largest Dutch Research and Technology organisation. She is responsible for two main innovation clusters, consisting of about 400 highly skilled professionals working on Information & Communication Technology (cluster CIT) and Ballistics and Protection (cluster PMW). 

Saskia obtained her degree in Econometrics in 1996 and started her career at KPN as a Researcher in the field of Network Optimization. This field grew out to a new department, of which she became the manager in 2000. At KPN she fulfilled several management positions, all for departments with a strong focus on innovation. At 2004 she joined TNO as an R&D manager in the field of ICT. The last four years she has been working in close cooperation with the Board as the Company's Secretary. In 2012 she was appointed Director of Research in Technical Sciences.
