The 19th edition of the Conference SCIC-Universities, entitled "RE-MAKING CONNECTIONS", will take place on 26 and 27 March 2015 in the Charlemagne building of the European Commission. As every year since 1996, this event will bring together representatives of universities from all over the world, as well as representatives of a number of International Organisations and other European Institutions. The main objectives of the Conference are to raise awareness on EU requirements concerning interpretation and update participants on latest developments in the field, but also to offer a networking platform to all the participants and generate debates. DG Interpretation organized a "Training for Trainers" seminar for teachers of conference interpreting, in Brussels from 12 to 16 January 2015. The seminar was conducted in German by SCIC trainers and 13 participants from member states, candidate and third countries participated in this session, thus having the opportunity to improve their teaching skills and acquiring new ones. The Pedagogical Assistance Evaluation Committee reviewed the requests from universities for the next semester (February to August 2015) and awarded a total of 251 days for training and presence at examinations. Universities have been informed of the proposed missions at the beginning of January 2015. Read more

We are happy to announce that this year's bursary programme has been successfully concluded. As in previous years we have received quite a number of interesting applications. The total number of applicants amounts to 262. Although most of them have a European language as their mother tongue, we have also received a few applications from candidate countries. After thorough examination of all files by the Bursaries Evaluation Committee, it was decided to award a bursary to 97 promising students. Read more

At the beginning of October 2014 the new version of the Speech Repository, the Speech Repository 2.0 was launched. The new Speech Repository does not only have a new design but also offers new functionalities and more than 2,000 speeches directly accessible to the public. Moreover, after logging in through ECAS, users of My Speech Repository have the possibility to connect with friends, record their interpretation with the SCICRec recording tool and share their recordings with other users to give and receive feedback.
