The DOREMI project targets three conditions affecting the quality of life of elderly people: Malnutrition, Sedentariness, and Cognitive decline. The project will develop a systemic solution for elderly, able to prolong the functional and cognitive capacity by empowering, stimulating and unobtrusively monitoring daily activities. The effectiveness and impacts, on both users and on the healthcare system, will be tested in a set of pilots set up in Italy and UK, involving both elderly users and care providers. FATE aims to validate an innovative ICT-based solution for the detection of falls in ageing people. A portable and easy-to-use fall detector that runs a specific algorithm to accurately detect falls is being tested and validated in pilot studies involving real living scenarios, in Spain, Italy and Ireland. HBB-NEXT, an EU project, works on the next generation of this technology and have come up with many novel solutions, from synchronising video across consumer devices via the cloud to controlling TVs using face and gesture recognition technology along with innovative accessibility solutions.
