Erkki Liikanen, Commissioner for Information Society and Enterprise, was in Budapest on February 24. He met Prime Minister P. Medgyessi, Minister for Information Technology and Communications K. Kovacs and Minister of Foreign Affairs L. Kovacs. Discussions took place on issues such as eEurope + ( implementation of the Lisbon Strategy in the Candidate Countries) and on the transposition of telecom regulation in Hungary. Read more
EITO 2003 Press Conference, Brussels
The Commission is carrying out a Public Consultation on proposals for further updating and improving the scope and focus of the eTEN programme. We invite you to give your comments on the discussion paper 'Orientations and priorities for eTEN programme 2003-2004'. The result of this consultation exercise will be the Workprogramme of eTEN for the year 2003. The consultation also looks forward at the further evolution of the programme in 2004. Read more
The EU Council of Ministers has given its formal approval to the launch of the eEurope 2005 action plan. The Resolution was adopted formally without further debate after a first agreement reached on the plan during the December 5, 2002 Council session. eEurope 2005 Action Plan proposes a co-ordinated European policy-making approach to information society issues.
