Jan Cifra, Head of business development at Pianomedia, a successful Slovakian startup that enables publishers to monetise their web content without cutting into existing ad revenue, encourages others to not let fear stop them, to take the plunge and live the startup adventure: “Being part of a startup develops a positive attitude and get-things-done approach. You learn skills like improvising, negotiation, building a network and many more that are highly transferable to any other job.

For this dynamic startup, which received support from local angel investors at Monogram Ventures, forming their own company was also the opportunity to contribute to something bigger than themselves by offering what could be part of the solution to a modern challenge: helping journalism prosper in the long-term.
