Overview of EU-funded running projects in the area of ICT for Ageing Well

While digital technologies can really help the elderly to maintain their independence there is a deficit in the availability of ICT products and ICT-enabled services. More research and development is needed, and in particular more user-centric research, and more real-life trials need to be deployed.

Between 2008 and 2013, via the 7th Research Framework Programme (FP7), the Ambient Assisted Living Joint Programme, and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (CIP), the EU and Member States, and the private sector have invested more than €1 billion in research and innovation for ageing well.
Horizon 2020 is the new Framework Programme on Research and Innovation. It has a total budget of € 80 billion from 2014 to 2020 and continues to work on innovation, developing new products and services for ageing well and bringing them to people all over Europe.
