CONNECT, a mobile Augmented Reality teaching aid system, will be used in conjunction with a model of an aircraft wing to teach visitors at CeBIT why aircraft are able to fly. Explanations of invisible scientific phenomena and other relevant information items are used in the presentation. The CONNECT research project, which is funded by the EU, crosscuts the boundaries between schools and museums as a learning environment. The project investigates ways in which augmented realtiy (AR) can assist the learning process, both in school and in museums. The technology can be used in other areas too, for instance to explain products at trade fairs, or as an aid to vocational training and professional development. The researchers are creating different exhibits for four museums, equipping them with an AR system, developing learning scenarios and carrying out several field trials with students. CONNECT will be on show at CeBIT in Hall 9, Stand B36.
