HelpingHand assists older people who develop difficulties in moving with daily tasks. The “HelpingHand” is an intelligent robot arm that supports a person who loses his stability and fears falling or actually falls. It follows passively all user’s movements and “freezes” (becomes a stiff support) in unstable situations. HelpingHand can be used intuitively, even by inexperienced users. If HelpingHand is fixed on the toilet walls, it can support people in all activities on the toilet and completely eliminate the help of a care-taker for bathroom visits. The robotic solution could also be applied to assist with other daily tasks in other parts in the house.

Mealtime 360 is an eating assistive device. It is a platform that combines these different aspects and integrates all aspects of a mealtime situation, and helps with eating, drinking, hygiene, medication reminder and not the least with the communication between healthcare personnel, the individual and the food delivery organisation. Through this solution, the group of elderly with mild disabilities (also cognitive disabilities) will be able to perform more activities in their daily living and manage by themselves a portion of the work that caregivers provide today.

Iron Arm is a light and ergonomic soft robotics device with intention detection sensors and mechatronic actuators that can be used to support personal activities of daily life for elderly users. It also collects data on their physical activities, allowing them to maintain muscle strength and increase their life expectancy, as well as helping them to recover faster from injuries or other hand mobility impairing diseases. Iron Arm targets the end-user market of healthy older adults and frail older adults suffering from chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It can support them in their daily activities. But Iron Arm also can be used during early rehabilitation phases (and later rented out to the patient for use at home), e.g of people recovering from a stroke, who often have a reduced arm /hand function.

LEGOROB is a novel care robot assisting elderly with various daily living activities, that provides physical as well as social support while preserving their privacy and personal space. It can be used by elderly suffering from illnesses such as dementia or mobility problems. It is a very affordable robot that can perform various household tasks. It can move around, is capable of information acquisition and sensing, and has an arm with an under actuated gripper able to grasp almost any object no matter its shape or weight. Its body will have handles, so that it can be transformed into an autonomous rollator. Users can control the robot either through a tablet or by speech. Special attention will be given to elderly with hearing and visual difficulties.

Wearable Bionic Exoskeletons for Safe Ambulation Elderly people progressively lose muscle strength, balance and mobility and at the end they lose their autonomy and need daily assistance. With a wearable bionic exoskeletons the ambulation function can be restored, and people can keep walking and moving without a wheelchair. The exoskeletons will be optimised for people with diseases like Parkinson’s, osteoarthritis, CVA or stroke, which produce tremor, rigidity and osteoporosis. The exoskeletons will absolve the caregivers from functional transfers work, preventing several lumbar diseases and saving more than 1,000 hours of work to caregivers in a city of 100,000 residents.

Kompaï-Robosoft develops an assistive robot to help assistance professionals in elderly care. It consists of a modular robot and a communication environment. The robot is 'personalised' for the elder persons health and type and degree of dependence, and can be adapted over time. It provides cognitive assistance and has a medication management carousel. Modules can be added for e.g. walking aid, position change assistance (standing, sitting) and handling systems. The communication environment is a secure website that allows the dependent person to remain in constant contact, in a simple and effective way. This provides both social links and a sense of security.
DEXTERous Mobile ManipulatorSafety is an assistobot combined with a 'smart' table, called RITA. The table is in fact a mobile sensor platform that can navigate and monitor clients in a non-invasive manner. The monitoring is used to provide 24/7 safety and behavioural analysis. RITA can bring drinks, medicine, carry food and other items and find a pair of glasses. And it is an all round tablet computer with an elderly friendly interface. This already existing platform is enhanced with a manipulator to assist people in their living environment. RITA can grasp cups, plates, medication, keys and more with it. The manipulator is controlled by the use of icons and by speech. It can be instructed to grasp an object and on what should be done with it.
