Now that the dust of the first CAPS (Collective Awareness Platforms for Sustainability and Social Innovation) call has settled, here is an update on the current status of this initiative, as well as on the next steps and events.
The 10 projects selected in the first call are presented at https://ec.europa.eu/digital-agenda/en/caps-projects. Most of them have just started, on October 1st. Your comments and participation are most welcome!
We've also recently launched a large study on Digital Social Innovation, which is setting up a network of organisations that use the Internet for social good. Visit, comment and contribute at http://digitalsocial.eu/ (and participate to their survey to add any digital social innovation activity you are aware of).
Until December 10th 2013, there is a great opportunity to submit proposals for seed funding projects towards SMEs and new actors using FI-PPP services, under the objective ICT 1.8 in Call ICT-FI (http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/ict/netinnovation/call3_en.html). We expect that a few of the 20 projects to be selected will target emerging areas such as social entrepreneurship or CAPS. Don't be late for this unique opportunity to leverage on your network of contacts! Feel free to contact us for any questions on that.
Moreover, we are proud to announce that a second CAPS call, with an increased budget, will be included in the forthcoming EU research program Horizon2020, as priority ICT10; it will be officially presented and discussed on November 7th in Vilnius, at the ICT13 event (9:50 Room H1A) - http://ec.europa.eu/digital-agenda/events/cf/ict2013/item-display.cfm?id=11634
During the same event, you will have the opportunity to meet other partners interested in this area, during the networking session 'Internet Science and CAPS' (booth 4, November 8th, 9:00-10:30) - http://ec.europa.eu/digital-agenda/events/cf/ict2013/item-display.cfm?id=10374 . In booth 4A11 you will also find more details about CHEST, the CAPS project which will award 2.5 M€ of seed funding to Digital Social Innovation activities in the coming months. The Network of Excellence in Internet Science will be present in booth 5G10.
Last but not least, at the ICT13 Exhibition in Vilnius you will also find the project CONFINE (booth 10714). This project is launching its second Open Call (with a budget of 750 k€) on "Connected communities: A future internet, built by the people for the people" - http://confine-project.eu/open-call-2/. Participate!
See you soon, best regards,
Loretta, Ainhoa and Fabrizio
