9 September 2011: EU, Paradiso and Collective Awareness - Become the change you want to see

Can individuals save the planet from the multiple sustainability problems which we are facing? Can ICT create a higher level of consciousness about the state of the environment, and about the role that local individual actions can play in the global society, at the level of lifestyles or democratic participation?

Can individuals save the planet from the multiple sustainability problems which we are facing? Can ICT create a higher level of consciousness about the state of the environment, and about the role that local individual actions can play in the global society, at the level of lifestyles or democratic participation?

On September 9, in Brussels, we will be exploring the role of online platforms for collective awareness and action in a dedicated dialogue. Platforms based on the connecting power of online social networks and on the knowledge coming from collective co-production, combined with the Internet of Things. Grassroots platforms, not driven by governments or industries, but involving users, local communities, NGOs and other representatives of civil society, for "community-based innovation"; making our lifestyles more sustainable, and our world more democratic.

Your participation is very important to make your voice heard in an event which will present and discuss concrete examples of these ideas, in order to plan future grassroots actions supported by the EU within the ICT programme.

Please note that participation is free of charge but the space available is limited: late registrations may not be accepted.

This dialogue is part of the high-level conference "Internet and Societies: New Innovation Paths" (September 7-8-9 in Brussels) which will be opened by the Vice-President of the European Commission Neelie Kroes.

That was just soooo cruel. All that lead up to the day, with forums on europa and over at the PARADISO linked in group. Expectations set and then............. the cone of silence descended. It must be such an embarressment for the organizers and funders that all that can ever happen is a talk fest about the future. The question /digital-agenda/en/blog/which-egovernment-services-would-you-like-to-see-available/ The answer http://ec.europa.eu/avservices/index.cfm?sitelang=en Very disppointing. The EC is sooo out of touch. Ten weeks after the first digital assembly and a big backward step.

Those nurses who are certified earn more than those yet to receive certification. The average certified nurse practitioner salary is around $135,000 per year. Surveys indicate that there are over 150,000 certified nurse practitioners in the United States. http://www.nurse-practitionersalary.com/
