The European emergency number 112 is the only emergency number in Sweden.

However, a very small proportion of calls are still made to the national emergency number 90000.

Disabled people can send SMS to contact 112, but it is necessary to pre-register and it only works for Swedish phone numbers.

112 calls are answered on average within 9 seconds.

In addition to the national language(s), they are answered in English and, in Lulea, in Finnish.

The 112 operator can detect the location of the caller whithin 1 minute in 90% of cases.

According to the latest   E-communications household and telecom single market survey, 48% of Swedes know they can use 112 everywhere in the EU.
