Translating as a contractor for the European Commission

Part of our translation work is done by external contractors in the private sector. We issue a public call for tenders every few years. For practical reasons, we recruit all contractors through the tendering procedure. We cannot consider speculative applications.

Calls for tender (and expressions of interest) are published in the Official Journal of the European Union. Open calls for tender launched by DG Translation are also published on this website. Both individual freelance translators and translation agencies can apply.
