The European Commission's interpreting service is organising the 16th Conference DG Interpretation-Universities entitled "Tradition & Innovation" on 15 and 16 March 2012 in the Charlemagne building. This annual conference brings together universities that train interpreters and the interpreting services from different EU and international organisations.
Mrs. Androulla Vassiliou, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth will open the event.
The Conference will be attended by 160 participants, including representatives from other International Institutions and from some 80 different universities from Member States and candidate countries as well as participants from Russia, Africa and the USA.
Among other things, the programme [15 KB] will include the impact of new technologies on training, trends and developments in interpretation, and social media as a recruitment tool for the Commission's interpreting service.
For the 10th time, the Leopoldo Costa Prize, an annual essay contest for students receiving a bursary from DG Interpreation, will be awarded.
