Julie Maher was a student at the National University of Ireland, Galway from 2003 until 2008 during which time she successfully read for Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degrees. She achieved first-class honours in both of her degrees, and in her B.A., she achieved first-class honours in both disciplines (Legal Science and English). She finished joint-first in her final year Legal Science class (out of over 150 students).
She is an accomplished debater, and represented the University at the World Debating Championships in Thailand in 2008. She was also a features writer for the student newspaper. Since graduating earlier this year, Julie has been employed by the School of Law as a tutor in E.U. Law to small groups of students.
In March 2009, she joined the Bureau of European Policy Advisers as a stagiaire to Maria Da Graça Carvalho working in the societal policy area.
