Alessandra Ferrari joined the Bureau of European Policy Advisors in March 2007.
Her expertise lies within the Life Sciences, holding an MSc in Biological Sciences and a PhD in Molecular Biology and Neuroscience.
She started her research experience in the field of immunology, and went on pursuing her interest in toxicology and neuroscience, first in the field of neuronal apoptosis, and later on studying molecular mechanisms implicated in Alzheimer's disease and in synapse formation/degeneration.
After her postdoctoral fellowship at University College London, she worked as an assistant editor for Nature Publishing Group, coordinating the launch of Nature Protocols, specifically taking care of neurosciences and biotechnologies related topics, by commissioning manuscripts, editing and managing peer-review up to publication.
At present, she is in the secretariat for the European Group on Ethics, where she contributes to the coordination of the Group's activities and the drafting of its Opinions on ethical issues related to new fast developing technologies.
