Maria João ALBERNAZ

Maria João Albernaz joined the Bureau of European Policy Advisers in June 2007 as part of the Societal team, working in the areas of Science, Innovation and Higher Education. She is also involved in the areas of Energy and Climate Change. She is seconded to the Commission from the International Relations Office of the Portuguese Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education.

Graduated in Modern Literature (University of Lisbon, Faculdade de Letras, Portugal) she started working for the Portuguese Government in 2003, dealing with matters related to EU policies on Education and Culture, Research and Cooperation, in the Office for International Relations in Science and Higher Education.

She has been nominated in 2003 assistant to the Cabinet of the Minister for Science and Higher Education and a year later assistant to the Minister for Science, Innovation and Higher Education.
