As preparation to Commission input to the work on the citizens' agenda for the Spring European Council, BEPA prepared a number of case studies on the "Advantages of Europe" as well as a synthesis note. The work attempted to identify areas in which EU action has benefited citizens and the ways in which this was achieved. It was prepared by a team composed of Tassos BELESSIOTIS, Ricklef BEUTIN, Paul CLAIRET, Paola COLOMBO, Andrew FIELDING, Agnes HUBERT, Frédéric LERAIS, Mattias LEVIN, Anna MELICH, Peter SMITH and Myriam SOCHACKI, co-ordinated by Peter SMITH assisted by Frédéric LERAIS and Mattias LEVIN. Work on the case studies and the synthesis was completed in the Spring of 2006 and has not been subsequently updated. It does not therefore cover developments since then. The synthesis note and case studies are the responsibility of the authors. They do not represent an official position of the European Commission nor of the Commission departments with responsibility for the policy areas covered.
