President Prodi and Belgian Prime Minister Verhofstadt organised two brainstorming meetings on "Brussels Capital of Europe" (pdf file 3409 kb). The first has taken place in Brussels at la Maison d’Erasme on the 30th of May, with a group of 16 officials and experts from the world of culture, arts, leisure, city planning, enterprises and social sciences.  The second meeting was held on 19th of September. The Group of Policy Advisers acts as project coordinator. 

In association with the "Bundesministerium für Familien, Senioren, Frauen und Jugend", the Group of Policy Advisers organised a one day seminar on "The future of social services in Europe" on the 5 October 2001. The seminar brought together academics, service providers, users and policy makers to discuss issues related to the challenges for continued provision of high quality social services.
