JRC Information exchange events in Romania, 15-16 June 2011
The JRC held two Information exchange events in Bucharest on 15 and 16 June 2011, aimed at strengthening collaboration and identifying potential partners in Romania.
The JRC-Romania Information Exchange Event, organized with the Romanian National Authority for Science and Research, was attended by some 150 participants representing national authorities, local and regional government, research & trade associations, industry and academia.
The panellists discussed topics of common interest, including the Danube Strategy of the European Union, research in support of regulation for nanomaterials in consumer products, science in support of a European low carbon economy and nuclear safety and security.
High level speakers included the JRC Director General, Dominique Ristori, the Romanian Minister of Education, Research Youth and Sports, Daniel Funeriu, and the President of the Romanian Academy, Ionel Haiduc.
The JRC also hosted a Seminar for Young Researchers, attended by an audience of about 150 Romanian PhD students. The students had the opportunity to get an insight of JRC activities in support of EU policy making as well as to discuss career opportunities and possibilities for collaboration with the JRC.
