Conference on "Scientific support to energy security in the Baltic Sea Region"
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania together with Joint Research Centre are pleased to invite you to Vilnius on 4 July 2013 to participate in the conference "Scientific support to energy security in the Baltic Sea Region". The event will center on the role of science as a contributor to regional cooperation-related innovative solutions which are a precondition for successful mitigation of energy security challenges in the Baltic Sea Region. The Conference which brings together all stakeholders from governments, science and industry is an important step towards generation of relevant effective networking, best practice sharing and other factors essential for exploring scientific potential and developing practical regional solutions.
The Conference aims at identifying regional energy security issues, stakeholders’ needs to meet regional energy security challenges and scientific potential, as well as possible instruments for responding to those needs.
The Conference is in line with the priorities of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2013 which include: energy security, particularly the completion of the internal energy market and strengthening the external EU energy policy, and effective implementation of the European Union strategy for the Baltic Sea Region.

A buffet- lunch will be offered to all registered participants and speakers – It will be held in the National Drama Theatre of Vilnius, located in front of the Academy of Sciences (at 4, Gedimino Ave.)
