JRC Ispra Open Day 2013
Ispra (IT) - 04/05/13
Open Day at the JRC Ispra site
Save the date: Saturday 4 May!
The Ispra site of the Joint Research Centre will open its doors for the 2013 Open Day!
How many areas of science related to your everyday life can you identify: soil, water, nanomaterials, renewable energy, nuclear materials, cyber-space, agriculture, bio fuels, electrical cars, emissions, floods, earthquakes, sun, fishing, oceans, lakes, tsunamis, the Globe? We will use all kinds of natural and man-made scientific happenings coupled with JRC tools to show you how science and research can contribute to improve the life of people and the state of the planet. We will deliver a vibrant series of events and demonstrations that will be attractive to every kind of visitor from families to students and professionals.
The Open Day in Ispra will be celebrated side-by-side with Europe Day. Our very first edition took place in 1992 with an attendance of 300 people. Ever since then, the event has been growing in popularity, reaching over 10,000 visitors in 2011. We can't wait to see what will happen in 2013!
There will be another special reason to take part in this Open Day: the European Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science Máire Geoghegan-Quinn will inaugurate the new JRC Visitors' Centre. The friendly and unique design of our Visitors' Centre will be aimed at encouraging visitors to take a deeper look at how the JRC's work contributes to EU policymaking; through science and research: Europe improves our lives!
More information can be found in the dedicated Ispra Open Day 2013 website, and the registration period will start a few weeks before the event. We are looking forward to seeing you there!
