Permanent officials

The recruitment of permanent scientific and administrative staff for the European Commission is organised by the European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) through open competitions.

Contract Staff (function group I only)

The recruitment of Contract Staff dealing with scientific and/or administrative tasks is organised through open competitions by the European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO). For Function Group I, an indeterminate contract can be offered.

 

Overview of types of permanent staff positions at the JRC

Categories	AD, AST function groups.	Function Group I.
Duration of contract	Permanent (upon successful completion of the probationary period).	Minimum duration is 2 years. If the contract is renewed the duration shall not be less than 1 year. Any subsequent renewal shall be for an indefinite period.
Nationality	National of an EU Member State unless an exception is authorised.	National of an EU Member State unless an exception is authorised.
Qualifications	See Article 5 of the Staff Regulations.	Successful completion of compulsory education.
