Seconded National Experts (SNEs) must come from a national, regional or local public administration, including universities and research organisations that do not see to make profits for redistribution. An SNE must have worked for his/her employer on a permanent or contract basis for at least 12 months before the secondment and shall remain in the service of that employer throughout the period of secondment. To qualify for secondment to the Commission a national expert must have at least three years of experience.

The Commission Decision of 12.11.2008 laying down rules on the secondment to the Commission of national experts and national experts in professional training applies for the short term opportunities for Seconded National Experts offered by the JRC in Enlargement and Integration Action.
In this context all applications for the 2012 Enlargement and Integration call will have to go through the national Missions. Here we only list the topics and Action descriptions. Please contact the Mission of your country directly to learn more and to apply.

E&IA Grantholder posts 2013
Grantholder contracts are aimed at developing training, career development and mobility opportunities for researchers throughout their careers. The JRC offers Grantholder contracts under the national employment law of the site where the JRC Institute is established to scientists embarking on doctoral studies, to those early on in their career and to those with experience.

The submitted applications will be evaluated by the relevant JRC Institutes and a reply will be sent to the applicants. A reserve list of the most suitable candidates will be set up.
These candidates will be contacted by the JRC according to future needs in the working area selected, in case of an envisaged employment at / secondment to a JRC institute. The constitution of such a list does not under any circumstances represent a commitment for future employment by the European Commission.
Candidates not included in the reserve list will be informed.
