Summary:
This Action integrates knowledge and tools from different scientific disciplines to assess impacts and benefits of climate policy on the European and global climate and environment. It has thus the aim to enhance the understanding of changes to the climate, the atmosphere and ecosystems, to provide scientific reference knowledge to policy makers on how society can mitigate these changes and how it can adapt to them.
The action performs research in the field of global emissions scenarios of greenhouse gases and air pollutants, global atmosphere and ecosystem modelling and regional climate modelling. It collaborates with the JRC IPTS' Action ICPA-SEI on socio-economic impacts and benefits of global and European climate policy. It provides meteorological datasets to other JRC IES Actions such as FOREST, FLOODS, GAPCC that study climate impacts in other domains such as water and agriculture.
