Statistical Indicators for Policy Assessment

The 2009 work plan of the action will focus on its three lines of activity.
1)methodological development of indicators for EU policies, including sensitivity and uncertainty analysis
2) research in the area of social indicators.
3)research in the quality of scientific information.
The action develops methodologies to assess policy-relevant science in orderto enhance the quality of scientific advice and (science-based) policy decision making in the Commission. Horizontal methodologies: science communication, uncertainty management, stakeholder and public participatory methods (ICT based). The action has 3 specific activities on uncertainty
management and risk governance, and develops and test inclusive
policy-making methods in the field of climate change. Furthermore the action has also three lines on security research: food security, security as portrayed in the media, and stakeholder and public involvement for conflict resolution.
