September issue of the JRC Newsletter
Following a one-month break for the Summer, the September edition of the JRC Newsletter has been published and can be downloaded here. It features an editorial from John Beddington, Chief Science Adviser to the UK Government, on European Commission President Barroso's recent statement on the need for a chief science advisor for the European Institutions.
This month's issue also contains news of a JRC report on increasing solar panel production worldwide, the problems we may soon face due to asynchronous GM crop authorisation in various parts of the world, a digital map of the world's soils and the 'bumpy road' we may yet face as we seek climate-change mitigation and eventual climate stabilisation. This edition also contains news from August on forest fires, European ICT companies' investment in R&D and more.
The purpose of the JRC Newsletter is to provide customers, stakeholders and staff, along with anyone interested in who we are and what we do, with a selection of recent highlights of JRC science and technology, support to European policy making, contributions to scientific events and other news of interest.
