New design for JRC-ITU buildings
The JRC Institute for Transuranium Elements (ITU) has selected the architects that will oversee construction of its new office buildings. A technical committee consisting of a panel of architects and four representatives from ITU, JRC and Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe evaluated seventeen proposed projects and a range of innovative designs before selecting MGF Architekten GmbH from Stuttgart, last week, 12 December.
The jury awarded the first prize to a project that they felt perfectly integrated the new building with the existing structure and character of the institute. The design offers space for offices, meeting rooms and social areas. The project also offers flexibility for modifications upon request.
The winning project, along with the other awarded proposals, will be on display in the entrance to wing C of the Institute over the next four or five weeks.
