Security research: JRC organises successful conference
The JRC Institute for the Protection and Security of the Citizen (IPSC) and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBÝTAK), jointly organised the conference "Security Research. Technology Solutions to Enhance Systems Interoperability" in Ankara on 17-18 April 2008.
The event, supported by the Slovenian EU Presidency, was organised both in the context of the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Development, to which Turkey is fully associated, and in the context of the JRC mission to provide customer-driven scientific and technical support to EU policies, among which are the Enlargement and the Security policies.
The main objective was to debate the challenges to be faced in security research and technology for civil applications, hinting at possible solutions and identifying relevant areas of co-operation. The programme of the conference has been structured to maximize the interaction between policy makers, research and technology providers in the light of the available support instruments. Some 300 participants from public authorities, the research field and industry from the Member States and Turkey attended the event.
The conclusions of the conference will be put on the web site together with the presentations.
