Monte Carlo (MC) - 24/11/08 - 25/11/08
Measurement of radioactivity in the environment and biological matrices
The aim of the workshop, organised jointly by the JRC Institute for Transuranium Elements (ITU) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at the IAEA Marine Environmental Laboratory, is to present and discuss the latest analytical developments for measuring discharges, emissions and trace radionuclide concentrations in the entire ecosystem, as well as the detection of radionuclides in foodstuffs.
The problematic of the research into the actinide behaviour in biological media, the mechanisms by which toxics accumulate in cell compartments/organs and by which elements are transferred and transported from cell to cell will be also considered. Discussions on the Member States' needs to implement and develop their collaborations in the above mentioned fields of research will take place.
