2008 MARS annual conference
Geomatics in support of the CAP
The 2008 MARS conference - the fourteenth of the series organised by the JRC Institute for the Protection and Security of the Citizen (IPSC) - has been opened today by Milan Pogačnik, Slovenian Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Food.
The annual event gathers government administrations, industry and academia interested in the use of remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and information management for Common Agricultural Policy management and implementation. In addition to the main programme this year, two keynote speakers - one scientific, one audit related - will provide a new outlook on using remote sensing for control purposes beyond the immediate IACS (Integrated Administration Control System) community.
The programme will cover a wide range of issues related to geomatics, including the introduction and testing of new sensors and the latest generation of space-borne radar instruments capable of identifying objects as small as 1m in circumference or measuring farmers' fields from space.
