JRC & Tübitak (Turkey) establish the basis for scientific cooperation
The JRC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (Tübitak). With this, both organisations set the basis for cooperation in the following fields: energy and clean transport, environment and climate change, agriculture and food security, health and consumer protection, information society and cyber security, crisis and hazard management and safety and security.
The agreement provides for the promotion of information exchange and sharing, the possibility to host Turkish PhD and post-doc students at JRC Institutes, access to large infrastructures and a wide range of collaboration opportunities for training workshops, information events and conferences.
The MoU was announced during today's "high level dialogue on scientific cooperation", held in Istanbu which included the participation of the JRC's Deputy Director General, Vladimir Šucha and the Tübitak President, Yücel Altunbasak.
In addition to the presentation of the JRC European Reference Laboratories, both parties discussed the scientific support needed for two specific cases: environment and sustainability and electromobility.
The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (Tübitak) is the main body responsible for organising research and development activities at national level in Turkey. It is also the national coordinator for the EU research framework programme and has the role to promote cooperation between EU and Turkish research organisations.
