The JRC and the Macedonian Ministry of Education and Science have jointly organised an information day in Skopje. During the event, Panče Kralev, Minister of Education and Science, and Vladimír Šucha, Deputy Director General of the JRC, announced an agreement to enhance scientific cooperation in fields of mutual interest.
These fields are energy (non-nuclear), environment, climate change, health and consumer protection including food safety, nanotechnology, biotechnology and natural disasters. In these areas the two parties will undertake joint activities, such as sharing data and information, hosting post-doc students at JRC Institutes, organising joint events or providing access to large infrastructures and laboratories.
During the information day, experts discussed topics of common interest in which the JRC has a clear expertise, such as structural assessment for buildings in case of earthquakes, food safety and quality, radio protection, nanobiotechnology and science for the environment.
The event was closed with a presentation on how to collaborate together and opportunities for the way forward.
